Dr. Moloele Timothy Kedijang is a qualified medical doctor and business coach with over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

He is the first black South African to be appointed President of Innovative Pharmaceutical Association of South Africa (IPASA) and Chairman of the Pharmacy Task Group (PTG), positions which he still currently occupies.

Timmy-as he is widely known and referred to; is the first black person of African descent to be appointed as Vice President and General Manager within Novo Nordisk a multinational Danish Pharmaceutical company with a global presence in 180 countries and is the number 1 pharmaceutical company in the management of diabetes. Under his leadership Novo Nordisk South Africa has seen double digit growth and has won several industry awards including being voted the number 1 Best Company to work for in a 2013 Deloitte Survey. Other accolades the company has received under his leadership include being certified as one of the Top Employers in the sector by the Top Employers Institute for 2014-2017.

In April 2015 Timmy was announced as the International Operations General Manager of the Year

In April 2015 Timmy was announced as the International Operations General Manager of the Year, an award presented to the best GM in a region with over 153 countries at the time. In the same year Novo Nordisk South Africa also received awards for best performing affiliate in the African region as well as best employee in the region.

 

Transformation; particularly in the pharmaceutical industry has remained at the top of Timmy’s agenda during his tenure at Novo Nordisk and will continue to be so. Since assuming his now erstwhile position of VP and GM of Novo Nordisk South Africa eight years ago, Timmy was able to oversee the BBBEE processes which resulted with the affiliate moving up from level 8 to level 5 in 2014. This change was mainly driven by the company’s Employment Equity, Skills and Enterprise Development interventions. In addition to this he transformed the company to having a workforce of 74% of its employees being from previously disadvantaged backgrounds with 54% of the company’s management being female.

Timmy’s achievements are testament to his strong business acumen. He is a strategist with extensive expertise in new business development, business processes and management, change/ transition management and financial management to mention a few. He is an inclusive leader who prioritises business ethics before profits and this approach has seen him not only grow the value and market share of Novo Nordisk South Africa, but also its reputation of only doing business one way- the right way.

These along with his professional qualifications which include the Advanced Management Programme (MAP) which he obtained from Wits Business School in 1994, MSc in Clinical Pharmacology which he obtained in 1993 from Aberdeen University in the UK and his medical degree he intends to use to not only pursue the transformation agenda within the Health Sector, but also provide business coaching and mentorship to the next generation of leaders in the sector.
