Dr Moloele Timothy ‘Timmy’ Kedijang is a medical doctor and business coach with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to co-founding DIMELA HEALTH, he was the Vice President and General Manager of Novo Nordisk South Africa. This is the local subsidiary of the multinational Danish pharmaceutical company, which has a presence in 180 countries around the world and is the global leader in diabetes management.
Under his leadership, Novo Nordisk South Africa saw double-digit growth, won several prestigious industry awards, and was voted Number 1 in the 2013 Deloitte Best Company to Work For Survey. The company was also certified as a Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute for the years 2014 through to 2017. From a transformation perspective, he put processes in place that saw the company move from a Level 8 B-BBEE rating to a Level 4 rating in 2014.
In addition to driving employment equity, skills, and enterprise development initiatives, he transformed the employee demographics to the extent that 74% of its employees were from
historically disadvantaged backgrounds and 54% of the company’s management was female by the time he left the company.
In 2015, he received the International Operations General Manager of the Year award from Novo Nordisk and, in the same year, Novo Nordisk South Africa received awards for being the best performing affiliate and the best employer in the African region.
He was the first black South African to be appointed President of the Innovative Pharmaceutical Association of South Africa (IPASA) and Chairman of the Pharmacy Task Group (PTG), positions he held for many years.
Transformation, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry and the broader healthcare sector, was at the top of his agenda and continues to be today.
His achievements are testament not only to the depth of his medical knowledge, but also to his strong business acumen. He is a strategist with extensive expertise in new business development, business processes, operational management, transformation management and financial management, to name just a few. He is an inclusive leader who prioritises business ethics before profits; an approach that saw him not only grow the value and market share of Novo Nordisk South Africa, but also its reputation for doing business the right way.
He and Dr Bobby Ramasia founded DIMELA HEALTH in 2018 with the vision of using their experience to facilitate transformation and inclusivity throughout the South African healthcare system.
